Short battery life but app shows high

Like many people have said, my two locks burn through batteries like crazy. I have one unit that lasts about 2 months, another will only last a few weeks. On the second unit, the app continues to show a high battery state but then when I try to unlock remotely, it says the batteries are dead and the lock will not activate. 

This cannot be a quality product. What can be done?
